12 Nov Teacher (SEND) – Maternity Cover two terms from January 2019
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Academies Trust (SENDAT) is a Multi Academy Trust focusing on specialist provision and special schools. Its core aim is to provide for the continuum of special needs. Priory School, a founder member of SENDAT is an academy special school for students with complex moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Priory currently has 146 places including 23 residential places. The age range is 8-18 year old.
SENDAT Mount Road is a class of six students with ASD and behavioural issues. Located on the Priory site, this is a ‘school within a school’. Mount Road students have a different profile of need to Priory and have a dedicated teaching and support team, although they are on the Priory roll and included in the Priory Ofsted inspection. The aim of the Mount Road provision is to enable students with ASD to develop the skills for them to succeed, ideally in a mainstream environment or a suitable alternative, by the end of Year 9. With this in mind, the work which they complete is similar to that within a mainstream setting however they still require a great deal of guidance and support with their social skills and behaviour.
All new appointments are subject to a 26 week probationary period, as set out in the School’s Probationary Procedure.
